Fortunately, there are many organisations made up of dedicated people who are trained and ready to assist communities affected by disasters. This course explores topics such as history and trends in humanitarian action, key issues in the humanitarian sector and the transition from disaster response to development.

EducateMe360 - EducateMe360 is an Indian Trust that offers online learning to millions of people around the world. To do so, EducateMe360 is building an open-source online learning platform. EducateMe360 helps institutions extend their collective reach to build a global community of online students. Along with offering online courses, we undertake research on how students learn and how technology can transform learning both on-campus and online throughout the world. Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas
University of Texas at Austin - Open Journalism courses & MOOCs. MOOC in English, Data-Driven Journalism: The Basics.  MOOC is taught by five experts in the field of data-driven journalism from both the academy and the profession: Amy Schmitz Weiss from San Diego State University, Lise Olsen from the Houston Chronicle, Derek Willis from The New York Times, Jeremy Bowers from NPR and Sisi Wei from ProPublica.

The Knight Center's MOOC program started in October 2012 with a course on data visualization with instructor Alberto Cairo, and  a second edition was offered in January 2013. This spring, the Knight Center offered two MOOCs in Spanish: How to Improve Electoral Coverage, with Colombian journalist Maria Teresa Ronderos; and  Introduction to Data Journalsim with Argentinean journalist Sandra Crucianelli.

MICROSOFTMicrosoft Research INDIA
Microsoft Research India has rolled out a pilot project with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) for a MOOC-like experiment blending online education with classroom learning. As part of its Massively Empowered Classroom project, Microsoft Research is offeringfree online certification on algorithm, design and analysis (ADA) for engineering students.

Two thousand students across 27 engineering colleges have enrolled for the semester-long program so far. "The recent excitement for MOOC is subtle and obvious. Technology has made students the center of learning as opposed to constrained by a classroom," said P Anandan, MD of Microsoft Research India. 

The course offers video lectures, online quizzes and tests at the end of each topic. Top ten students will get an opportunity to intern at Microsoft Research besides getting a certification from them.
Microsoft Virtual Academy (MVA)
Microsoft Virtual Academy (MVA) offers online Microsoft training delivered by experts to help technologists continually learn, with hundreds of courses, in 11 different languages. Mission is to help developers, knowledgeable IT professionals and advanced students learn the latest technology, build their skills, and advance their careers. MVA is free of charge, and the entire service is hosted on Windows Azure. MVA member so that you can earn points for your learning, achieve different levels of badges and status relative to others in your country or around the world, and get certificates when you complete an entire course. Your personal dashboard helps you track your progress against your personal learning plans. 

Mini-MOOC - MOOC Sampler that offers participants free access to university-level courses. The three-week online experience will introduce them to segments of three six-week courses that are typically part of first-year study at US universities.Students in the MOOC Sampler will participate in segments of three social science courses, Strategies for College Learning and Goal Setting, Introduction to Psychology, and Introduction to Sociology. The most difficult challenge students face in obtaining a US university degree is not the cost or being accepted by an institution; it is surviving the academic requirements of the first year of study. 

First course in select online degree programs will be converted into a free MOOC. Each MOOC will be the same course with the same academic content, taught by the same instructors, as currently offered degree programs at participating public universities. Students who successfully complete a MOOC2Degree course earn academic credits toward a degree, based upon criteria established by participating universities. 

Initially, participating colleges include: Cleveland State University, Lamar University, University of Arkansas System, University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing, University of West Florida, Utah State University, etc.

MOOCDOM launching a free website that serves as a central registrar of its user’s educational experiences, qualifications and skills and provides employers with the ability to customize training programs for future and current employees as well as recruiting employees with defined skill sets. MOOCDOM allows employers to create a custom training Institute that prepares potential employees with the precise skills required to obtain skilled employment.

Credentials/Credit Opportunities - In association with Saint Charles’ College based in Atlanta, Georgia, a new non-profit online college will open for enrollment in September 2013. MOOCDOM allows users to transfer academic credits from multiple sources towards vocationally focused Certificates & Diplomas and Associate, Bachelors and Master’s Degrees. Users with significant work experience can apply for a formal assessment of prior learning and receive up to 25% of the credit required to earn a degree. Saint Charles’ College accepts transfer credits recognized by The American Council on Education (ACE) and charges only a nominal $50 degree documentation fee which is waived for military veterans and anyone unable to afford the payment.

Designed and developed by Moodle HQ Sites Team, the website aims to facilitate learning and collaboration to inspire better teaching everywhere. 

Learn Moodle uses an unmodified version of the latest Moodle version release, Moodle 2.5.1, with a custom Bootstrap-based theme. It is a running on a cluster of servers utiliising a variety of open source tools to provide scalable and fault-tolerant services. If a lot of people use the site, extra servers are automatically added to cope with the load, and when it's quiet fewer resources are used.

First MOOC, Teaching with Moodle: An Introduction, will start 1 September 2013 with a live launch at 15:00 UTC by Martin Dougiamas, Moodle founder & lead developer. It is a free course for teachers who would like to use (or anyone interested in) learning platforms to enhance teaching and learning in today's educational environment.
